چکیده
Background: To find out the influence of intermittent compression therapy using sphygmomanometer on pressure changes and walking ability on individuals affected with peripheral arterial diseases of lower limbs. Methods: Total thirty patients’ age 30 to 70 years post peripheral arterial diseases individuals included for study. These patients were randomly allocated to intervention group (n=15), which underwent a 6weeks training program & control group (n=15) that received standard care and unsupervised exercise protocol. Primary outcome was change in ABI levels as determined in before and after the intervention program. Secondary outcomes were intermittent claudicating distance and walking capacity as assessed by the walking impairment questionnaire. Results: Paired sample ttest was used to analyze changes from before and after intervention program. There is a statistically significant (p=0.000) improvement in both experimental group and control group but when compared to control group, experimental group shows improvement in the mean values in all parameters. Conclusion: In this study the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI), Intermittent Claudication Distance (ICD) and Walking Impairment Questionnaire (WIQ) improved significantly in experimental group than control group by applying the pneumatic compression therapy with the sphygmomanometer and graded walking exercise. Hence, the study recommends that intermittent pneumatic therapy along with graded exercise is most effective in improving Ankle Brachial Index (ABI), Intermittent Claudication Distance (ICD) and Walking capacity in PAD individuals. بررسی تأثیر Vacuum-Compression Therapy (VCT) بر جریان خون اندام دیابتی
Background: Chronic diabetes is substantially associated with circulatory disorders in lower limbs. Vacuum-Compression Therapy (VCT) has been commonly used in treatment of peripheral circulatory disorders. VCT is based on intermittent alteration of Positive- Negative pressure phases. The purpose of this study was to determine effects of VCT on diabetic subjects' peripheral blood flow. Methods: I...

Purpose: Considering the influence of horizontal velocity on many biomechanical characteristics of walking, the purpose of this study was to investigate how inter-lower-limbs local and global asymmetry is influenced by changes in walking speed from slow to fast. Methods: Ground reaction force data and trajectory of attached markers of bilateral lower limbs of 15 right leg-dominant able-bodied ...

Diagnosis of symptomatic PAD is based on a triad of a positive history, absent pulses and reduced ankle brachial pressure indi...

متن کاملDo angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors improve walking distance in patients with symptomatic lower limb arterial disease? A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.
BACKGROUND Several studies have reported the clinical effects of long-term treatment with cardioprotective medications in patients with lower limb peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in terms of reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. A number of these studies investigated the clinical effect of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) on walking distance in this group of patient...
